Unlike the way you got to the Outlands in The Burning Crusade, travelling to Northrend is different for the Horde and the Alliance.
As a member of the Horde you can go to Orgrimmar and take the zeppelin to the Borean Tundra or you go to Tirisfal near Undercity and take the zeppelin to the Howling Fjord.
As a member of the Alliance you can go to the docks in Stormwind and take the boat to the Borean Tundra or you can go to the docks of Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands and take the boat to the Howling Fjord.
Besides that Northrend brought you many other things:

  • 9 Zones
  • 16 Dungeons
  • 9 Raids
  • 1 PVP arena
  • 1 PVP zone
  • 2 PVP Battlefields
  • and other things like achievements, glyphs and the advanced dungeon finder
